Client’s Background
Building an unshakeable web-to-print business.
With roots back to 1954, JAM Paper & Envelope is a family-owned and operated manufacturer and retailer of envelopes, paper, folders, and other office supplies. Similarly, BIGNAME Commerce, the parent company of Envelopes.com and Folders.com, has been a market leader in specialty office supplies since 1971, specializing in customized products for businesses, organizations, and consumers globally.
In December 2021, JAM Paper & Envelope joined forces with BIGNAME Commerce to further expand the businesses’ online presence and product assortment. Combining JAM Paper & Envelope’s expertise in selling through online marketplace channels with the brand recognition and credibility of BIGNAME Commerce, the merger resulted in a leading web-to-print business, Jam+.
Now with three digital commerce businesses in its portfolio, Jam+ sought to develop a single enterprise-level ecommerce platform on Adobe Commerce. The goal? To
- Operate the three online businesses with enterprise-level technology
- Build a unified, fully automated process for product catalog management and order fulfillment, and
- Establish a digital commerce framework that enables the launch of new sites in additional web-to-print marketplaces.
With the aspiration to build an unshakeable platform for its web-to-print business, Jam+ knew it needed the support of a strong developer agency. Ultimately, the client chose to partner with Kadro Solutions, based on its shared commitment to innovation and the agency’s reputation for delivering cutting-edge technology solutions.
Why JAMPaper Came to Kadro
Overcoming replatforming hurdles and unifying back-office operations.
With the monumental goal of building an enterprise-level ecommerce platform, Jam+’s success didn’t come without its challenges — the first being the complex task of replatforming three distinct sites (JAMPaper.com, Folders.com, and Envelopes.com) from two disparate platforms.
Before the merger of Jam+, Folders.com and Envelopes.com were initially being built on Adobe Commerce by another agency, while JAMPaper.com was built on a custom platform. However, after encountering delays with the existing agency’s progress, Jam+ entrusted Kadro Solutions to take over the project.
In addition to replatforming the three sites onto Adobe Commerce, Kadro also inherited the task of integrating Jam+ back-office system into the latest NetSuite ERP. Due to its recent merger, Jam+ needed to unify JAM Paper & Envelopes’s and BIGNAME Commerce’s operational processes into a single back-office system. For Kadro, this demanded meticulous coordination to align the Adobe Commerce replatform with the updated NetSuite ERP and establish a cohesive organizational structure.
Another challenge that emerged for Jam+ was the need to automate a number of back-end processes — the first being onboarding new products. As a growing business, Jam+ needed to be able to easily add new products and web-to-print templates, with complete management driven by the NetSuite back office system.
Second, the company needed to automate the order fulfillment process for both merchandise orders and custom web-to-print jobs between its ecommerce site and ERP. Finally, Jam+ needed the ability to analyze, map, and automate data for its extensive product catalog and web-to-print products. This would ensure efficient data transfer from NetSuite to Adobe Commerce, enabling rapid product launches and updates.
Turning to Kadro Solutions, Jam+ found the partnership it needed to build its enterprise-level platform and realize its ecommerce goals. To tackle these challenges, Kadro executed a three-phased approach, with each phase dedicated to the delivery and go-live of each of the three Jam+ sites.
Product Customizer with CHILI Publish
For Envelopes.com, Kadro developed a state-of-the-art, web-to-print interactive design tool fully integrated with CHILI Publish’s toolset for templates and the CHILI Publish backend system.
Automated Product Updating with SearchSpring
Seamless Merging of Product Catalogs
Kadro assisted Jam+ in performing comprehensive data analysis, data mapping, and data automation across its three merged product catalogs and web-to-print products from various printing companies. Then, Kadro created an automated onboarding and data mapping solution to seamlessly integrate this data into Adobe Commerce.
Rapid Deployment of New Jam+ Websites
Kadro developed backend functionalities allowing Jam+ to swiftly spin up new sites with customized themes, headers, and other elements. This empowered JAM’s merchandising team to launch new sites independently while maintaining brand consistency.

Phase One: JAMPaper.com
Functional Parity
The first phase of the project focused primarily on the development of JAMPaper.com, migrating the site from its original custom ecommerce solution to Adobe Commerce and achieving functional parity with its previous site.
Laying The Foundation for Phase 2
As a result, Kadro was able to eliminate some of the heavy lift of developing the following two sites, since all the back-office sophistication of JAMPaper was already in place.
This first phase of the project largely laid the groundwork for subsequent phases, allowing for a more seamless development of Folders.com and Envelopes.com.
New Supplier Partnerships
During this phase, Folders.com established a partnership with a new printer provider, Taylor Corporation, in addition to its partnership with Admore Folders. Now with two printing fulfillment partners, Folders.com experienced a significant uptick in SKU count as the brand added additional folder dimensions, sizes, and styles.
CHILI Publish Backend Integration
All the while, Kadro was busy deploying CHILI Publish, a third-party design tool and creative automation software, onto Folders.com. As a web-to-print business, Folders.com provides the ability for customers to customize, design, and print folders and other branded materials. Thus, the site needed a user-friendly interface that would enable customers to seamlessly customize web-to-print products.
But while CHILI Publish provided a robust backend infrastructure, Folders.com required a more custom frontend and enhanced user experience to better align with its specific requirements. So, for the initial version of the CHILI Publish integration, the team used both the CHILI Publish backend system and CHILI Publish’s UI/UX toolset, coupled with additional customizations by Kadro Solutions, for the frontend design tool.
Thus, Phase Three marked the introduction of the first web-to-print solution within Jam+’s digital platform — paving the way for further customizations in Phase Three.
Migration to Adobe Commerce
State Of The Art Design Tool
Also a web-to-print business, Envelopes.com needed an intuitive interface that would allow customers to customize envelopes and other web-to-print products. Recognizing the need for a tailored fronted experience, Kadro decided to build a custom solution to meet Jam+‘s unique requirements for Envelopes.com.
Built From The Ground Up
Thus, Kadro developed a state-of-the-art, web-to-print interactive design tool that fully integrates with CHILI Publish’s toolset for templates and the CHILI Publish backend system. Built on HTML Canvas technology, the bespoke tool provides a dynamic and improved design experience with drag-and-drop features, custom text and images, and more.
Adaptability and Versatility
Furthermore, the design tool provides the adaptability to connect to various publishing backends beyond CHILI Publish, offering flexibility and future scalability for the business.
Success
With the successful launch of Envelopes.com, Jam+ achieved a matured digital commerce platform that not only supports custom design tools, but more importantly, supports the scalability of its web-to-print business.
Results
Extending Jam+’s capabilities.
In the end, Kadro’s collaboration with Jam+ yielded significant outcomes. Now with all three of its brands launched on Adobe Commerce, Jam+ has laid the foundations for continued growth and expansion. In fact, during the duration of the project, Jam+ added multiple printing companies as new fulfillment partners, allowing the company to grow its product catalogs and further expand its reach.
In addition, the integration of the latest NetSuite ERP into Jam+‘s back-office system marked a major triumph. Amidst the merger of JAM Paper & Envelopes and BIGNAME Commerce, the integration of NetSuite was crucial in streamlining and unifying operational processes.
Finally, Kadro’s web-to-print design tool has provided Jam+ with the flexibility to offer highly customized frontend experiences, while enabling support for various publishing backends. As a web-to-print business, this has been crucial for enhancing the frontend experience for end users and expanding Jam+’s capabilities to extend beyond its current portfolio of products.
Conclusion
Strong support for a growing business.
Through strategic collaboration and cutting-edge solutions, the partnership between Kadro Solutions and Jam+ demonstrated the success of a multifaceted project. By overcoming replatforming challenges, integrating a new ERP, automating critical processes, and building a custom design solution, Kadro helped position Jam+ for sustained growth in a competitive ecommerce landscape.
Ultimately, Kadro supported Jam+ not just in migrating its three sites onto Adobe Commerce, but creating a unified digital commerce platform to fully support its growing web-to-print business. As Jam+ continues to expand its online business, Kadro Solutions looks forward to continued collaboration, leveraging its expertise to support the business’s growth trajectory.
